Advocating for Educational Access
Lorraine “Raine” Johnson-Curtis is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Rainey Day College Foundation, Inc., an organization dedicated to helping students from underserved communities access the financial, academic, and mentoring support needed to succeed in higher education. Her passion for service began through mentoring college-bound students and student-athletes at her alma mater, Camden High School.
Leadership Through Community Impact
With more than 25 years of experience as a Senior Business Systems Analyst, Raine brings strategic leadership, operational expertise, and a deep commitment to community collaboration. Under her leadership, the Rainey Day College Foundation has awarded more than 150 scholarships, provided emergency student grants, and coordinated over 1,100 college care packages for graduating seniors.
A Lifelong Commitment to Service
Raine remains actively involved in civic and community organizations including the NAACP, the League of Women Voters, the National Council of Negro Women, and The Links, Incorporated. Her dedication to educational equity and community empowerment has earned her numerous honors recognizing her leadership, service, and lasting impact. Guided by the belief that “we can change communities one student at a time,” Raine continues to champion scholarship opportunities, mentorship, and educational advancement for future generations. Currently pursuing her doctorate in Developmental Psychology at Capella University, Alia continues to champion research, staff development, and equity-driven educational transformation while mentoring the next generation of educational leaders.
